Discover Voltaic's lightweight solar charger solutions for hiking and backpacking.
Based on your adventure, here are the products we recommend:
Fuse Series: Available in two sizes (Tablet & Laptop) to charge all your devices, our Fuse series offer the option to be mounted to any bag with our universal attachment system while providing ample storage for your battery, cables, and other small devices.
Solar Kits: If you're looking for something a little more basic and light-weight, our Solar Kits (also available in a variety of panel sizes) are the way to go. All power, no frills - these kits include our most popular solar panels connected to a Voltaic universal battery plus standard adapters. While they are lightweight, they do require a little more creativity when it comes to battery and cable management. The Kits are especially great for camping as they allow you to set up at your campsite and power up securely during the day.
Solar Folders: Our newest addition, the Arc solar folders, provides you with a lightweight and extremely portable solar charging option. Perfect for backpacking, climbing, or camping - the Arc folders pack up for easy, lightweight transport and unfold to soak up all the rays you can find.
First: We recommend first figuring out what devices you want to bring with you when you're off the grid. While all of the above solar chargers will power your phone and GoPro, larger electronics (DSLR cameras and laptops included) require larger panel systems. Need additional help determining your power requirements? Be sure to check out our device-specific guides under the "Shop Gear" tab in the main navigation to simplify your search.
Second: Choose the style that best fits you and your adventures. Looking for something compact and organized? Go with our Fuse system. Want optimum power at the lowest weight? Our Solar Kits or Arc folders are perfect for you.
Third: Test your new gear and get exploring!
Due to extra storage capacity, our Fuse Series are heavier than our Kit and Arc models. Please see the chart below for specifics on all our Backpacking Solar Gear:

Depending on which solar charger you purchase, there are a number of ways to make sure your charger is properly attached for optimal solar potential.
Fuse Series: Simply use our universal mounting system to attach to your favorite bag. The mounting system allows each clip can be adjusted to fit your pack, either by incorporating your existing compression clips or by connecting our male universal clip to an available spot on your bag. You can see more about attaching your Fuse to different daypacks here.
Solar Kits: Complete with four corner mounts, our Kits allow you to attach the panels with little restraint. We recommend ¾ inch webbing or bungee cords to attach them directly to the outside of your pack - running the battery wire to a secure and waterproof pouch in your bag. These mounting techniques allow you to remove the panel easily - perfect for setting up a charging station when at rest.
Solar Folders: Perfect for laying out or strapping to a bag or tent - our Arc solar folders are situated with reinforced corner mounts for quick and easy attachment almost anywhere.
Each of our panels is waterproof, UV and scratch resistant - you could leave your panel outside for years without discoloration or decreased performance. Their Aluminum/Plastic composite substrate backing also means that they are extremely durable.
However, please note that batteries are NOT waterproof and must be kept dry. If you decide upon one of our Fuse systems, please note that the storage bag is only water-resistant and should be covered up in moderate to intense storms. Chances are it's not going to be sunny during that rain storm so when in doubt, cover your gear!

Yes. We always recommend testing out your panel and battery before heading out. Other than that, we always like to remind our clients that in order to get the most out of their solar charging system make sure your panel is angled properly and is located in direct sunlight The sunnier it is, the better charge you will get.
