The team at Sol Design Lab in Austin showed off their retro-modern Solar Pump Station at this year’s Maker Faire. The design couples an iconic 1950′s gas pump with solar to create a power station for electric bicycles and electronics.

The system uses:

    - 2 deep-cycle 100AH 12V batteries (in series)
    - An 1100W inverter to Output 110V AC
    - Sanyo Solar Panels
    - Morningstar charge controller
We’d certainly like to see more of these as they are a great way to raise the profile of solar in communities through an interactive experience. 2 to 3 of our Generator panels connected together could be used to create a pretty powerful community charging station. Contact us if you’re interested in trying to build one and we can help out.
