We had some great entrants in our Free Gear contest in February. The Grand Prize went to A Trip South (website, facebook). They received $250 towards a powerful laptop, cameras (Canon XA10 HD, Contour HD Helmet Camera, Nikon D3000, Nikon D5000) and radio charging setup. We paired a 16 Watt solar panel with a V60 Battery (now available as our 17 Watt Kit). In addition, we included an extension cable with a waterproof connection so the waterproof panel could be mounted outside on a Kayak or bike trailer with the battery charging, dry, inside the gear bags.
In June, twelve friends from Juneau will depart for Nanaimo, British Columbia by Kayak. From there, five will continue on down the Pacific Coast all the way to Tierra Del Fuego (that’s a long way!) via bicycle. Along the way, they want to “explore places that we have never experienced before, and experiment with new ways of living” and “plan to enter the film into international film festivals upon completion.”
